The Capitals drew a record 16.0 rating in Washington, D.C., for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final — making it the most-watched hockey game ever for NBC in the market.Â
The number surpasses the 12.6 rating the Capitals hauled in last week for Game 7 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.Â
With a 16.0 local rating in Washington DC, Game 1 was the HIGHEST RATED Capitals game EVER on the networks of NBC in the market, topping this year’s Game 7 of the ECF vs. Tampa Bay on NBCSN (12.6).

The NHL had its highest rating for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final since 2015, recording a 3.72.
The Capitals-Golden Knights’ rating was also 7 percent higher than last year’s Cup final between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Nashville Predators.
