SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police say a Clinton man was under the influence of alcohol and had several weapons when he threatened to kill police earlier this month.
Prosecutors say in court documents that 60-year-old Wayne Lindley told emergency dispatchers June 4 that he wanted police to respond to his home so he could kill them.
The Deseret News reported Monday that court documents state Lindley carried multiple firearms out of his home and repeated the threat several times. He was arrested after a three hour standoff.
No one was injured.
He’s charged with carrying a weapon while under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault and making a terroristic threat.
He has not yet entered a plea.
Lindley’s attorney Michael Studebaker says his client doesn’t have a criminal record and is not violent. He thinks the situation was alcohol-related.
