WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in North Carolina say they think a man whose body was found inside a pickup truck died of a drug overdose, and the dog with him died from heat exposure.

Wilmington police told local news outlets in a release officers found drugs, needles and other drug paraphernalia inside the car Friday.

While his identity hasn’t been released, police said he was a 28-year-old man from Burgaw. Investigators think the dog was a Mastiff.

The news release said the truck, which was found near a pet store, had been parked there for some time.
