GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) - The Pennsylvania Associated Press Media Editors has named Brianna Hofsass, a junior at Temple University, and Joshua Templin, a junior at Albright College, as winners of $1,500 Ralph Flamminio Memorial Scholarships.

Hofsass and Templin were recognized Friday at the annual PAPME awards ceremony in Gettysburg.

PAPME’s award, honoring the former editor of The Morning Call in Allentown and Coatesville Record, salutes outstanding Pennsylvania college students who best display the ideals of Ralph Flamminio - passionate about journalism and the First Amendment, and a champion for a better-informed citizenry.

Hofsass, 20, from Hershey, Pennsylvania, is sports anchor for TUTV’s Emmy Award-winning news broadcast, Temple Update. She was only the second student in Temple Update history to be selected to anchor as a freshman. As sports anchor and reporter, Hofsass has covered the 2017 NFL Draft, College Gameday, breaking news in the Temple Athletics community, and seasons of basketball and football games. She previously interned with NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Templin, 30, a native of Reading, Pennsylvania, hosts Albright College’s Next Exit radio show on WXAC 91.3 FM, which showcases a diverse genre of underground music

Before transferring to Albright, Templin was the editor and culture writer for the Reading Area Community College newspaper, the Front Street Journal. One of his cultural essays won a second-place award in the 2018 Student Keystone Press competition. Templin also helped spearhead the paper’s website redesign.
