GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Eastern Washington athletic director William Chaves is among four finalists for athletic director at the University of North Dakota.
Chaves has headed the athletic department at the Big Sky Conference school since 2007 and is a two-time winner of national Athletic Director of the Year honors. Under his tenure, the school’s football team has won five conference titles and one national championship.
The other finalists are University of Texas at San Antonio deputy athletic director Kellie Elliott, Western Michigan senior associate athletic director M. Montgomery Porter III, and UND associate athletic director Michael Mannausau.
Mannausau is in charge of major gifts for UND. He led efforts in 2017 to raise $9 million for Fighting Hawks athletics.
The candidates are scheduled for interviews and open forums in the next week.
