PUTNEY, Vt. (AP) - Vermont police say they have arrested a private school employee on a charge of embezzling more than $30,000 from the school.

NECN reports 45-year-old Tammy Neathawk, of Chester, was taken into custody Tuesday. Authorities say Neathawk, an employee of The Grammar School in Putney, made unauthorized purchases on the school credit card for the past three years.

Police are investigating to see if the alleged embezzlement extends to earlier years.

Neathawk is scheduled for an arraignment hearing March 27. She didn’t immediately return a phone message seeking comment and it wasn’t known if she had a lawyer.
