WINDSOR, Vt. (AP) - Two Vermont school districts are one step closer to a proposed merger.
The Valley News reports the state Board of Education voted unanimously Wednesday to approve the proposed West Windsor and Windsor school district merger. Residents of both towns will have the final say when they vote on the proposal in March.
The other two towns in the Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union, Weathersfield and Hartfield, hope to keep their individual K-8 districts. School committee officials have supported the position.
Supervisory Union Superintendent David Baker believes the state Board of Education will make a decision by June concerning districts that have chosen an alternative to Act 46.
