MOORHEAD, Miss. (AP) - The president of a Mississippi community college is delaying his retirement to help the school deal with the aftermath of a fire.
The Greenwood Commonwealth reports that trustees of Mississippi Delta Community College unanimously agreed Friday to suspend their search for a new president, retaining Larry Nabors.
Surveillance video shows a single person setting fire to different parts of the Stauffer-Wood Administration Building in Moorhead on Dec. 14.
Nabors says it will take more than six months for the college to renovate the building or build a new one, and he doesn’t want to leave the college “in a bad situation.”
Trustee President Paula Sykes says trustees are likely to resume the search in the fall.
Officials are offering a $5,000 reward for information on the fire.
