RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont school is hosting active shooter training for local police.

The Rutland City Police Department says the annual drills taking place this week at Rutland High School had already been scheduled before last week’s school shooting in Florida. The Rutland Herald reports that classes are not in session this week.

The department has asked people to stay away from the school during morning training sessions Wednesday through Friday.

The drills are conducted in collaboration with state police and the local sheriff’s department.
