NORWICH, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut city has sworn in its first African-American female firefighter.
The Day reports Kafi Davis was sworn in to the Norwich Fire Department Tuesday after graduating last week from the 62nd Connecticut Fire Academy Recruit Class.
Davis left her career at the Department of Children and Families to become a firefighter, and she officially started Monday with Platoon 2.
Davis is a former Norwich Free Academy and University of Connecticut track athlete.
She plans to attend EMT school next.
