LEWISTON, Maine (AP) - Students returning to Bates College are getting a reminder to keep it down while off campus after complaints from neighbors.
Emails were sent to sophomores, juniors and seniors in response to rising complaints about noise and disruption caused by students living off campus.
The Sun Journal reports that the letter was signed by the senior associate dean of students and interim director of security and campus safety. The letter says they’re asking for students’ help in “resetting the relationship between our off-campus houses and our neighbors.”
In the past, residents were advised to call campus security whenever they had complaints about parties. They’re now being told to contact police. Police say they’ll first issue a warning but arrests could follow if they have to return.
