CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A smartphone app developed in New Hampshire to help sexual assault victims has been launched nationwide.
The uSafeNH app includes resources for victims and their supporters as well as interactive features aimed at preventing assaults. Through a collaboration between the University of New Hampshire and the state’s Attorney General’s office, the app was deployed last year at 21 higher education campuses across the state. It is being relaunched across the country this week.
The app comes as colleges and university across the country are reviewing how they handle sexual assaults on campus. Among those was Dartmouth College, which has in recent years banned hard liquor, developed a mandatory four-year sexual violence prevention curriculum and introduced a safety app that allows students to track friends and report safety concerns and emergencies.
