HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - A 37-year-old San Antonio man convicted of the 2005 slaying of a pregnant Lubbock woman whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase at the Lubbock city landfill has received an execution date.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice has received a Lubbock state district judge’s order setting Rosendo Rodriguez III for lethal injection March 27.

Rodriguez was convicted of the fatal beating and choking of 29-year-old Summer Baldwin, who was five weeks pregnant. Rodriguez was in training as a Marine reservist in Lubbock when she was killed.

Court records show Rodriguez was linked to at least five other sexual assaults and confessed to the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl who’d been missing for more than a year. Joanna Rogers’ body also was found in a suitcase in the landfill.
