FRANKLIN, Wis. (AP) - Police say a man fleeing police drowned when he jumped into a pond in southeastern Wisconsin.

Franklin police say police were called Saturday afternoon to a fraud complaint at a store and began chasing the man, who was in a car. The man abandoned the car after getting into an accident.

Police say the man jumped into a pond and never surfaced. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the Franklin Dive Team recovered his body.
