JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A homeless man is facing murder charges after police say he stabbed without provocation an elderly man walking his dog in a park.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says 41-year-old Evan Freda stabbed 74-year-old Ashley Miller Kraan on Friday afternoon at Willowbranch Park.

The Florida Times-Union reports that Kraan was able to describe his attacker before he died, which led officers to Freda.

Freda’s family told investigators that he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
