BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama man who police say fatally shot another man in Georgia has been arrested.
AL.com reports that 29-year-old James Edward America was arrested early Saturday at his home in Birmingham in connection with the Friday night death of 52-year-old Khaled Warawra in Duluth, Georgia.
Duluth police spokesman Officer Ted Sadowski says America had driven to Georgia to talk to his ex-girlfriend, but was met by her roommate, Warawra, who shut the door on him. Warawra was shot through the door. A police report says the suspect left the scene in a car the ex-girlfriend later identified as belonging to America.
Investigators recovered the handgun believed to have been used at America’s apartment.
America is charged with murder and awaits extradition to Georgia. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
