PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a man found stabbed multiple times outside a north Philadelphia apartment said he stabbed and killed a younger man after he was attacked.

Police called to the Kensington residence shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday found the 57-year-old man outside. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. Inside, they found a 47-year-old man dead in the bathroom with a stab wound to the chest.

Police said they were told that the older man was in his bed when the younger man entered and assaulted him with a metal bookend and then with several knives. He said he was able to get a knife away and struck the younger man in the chest before fleeing. No arrests have been made and the homicide unit is investigating.
