LOS ANGELES (AP) - A homeless man accused of stabbing a Santa Monica Pier restaurant employee after demanding food has pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon and second-degree robbery.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office says 34-year-old Calvin Earl Gullett entered the plea Monday and was sentenced to 20 years in state prison.

The attacked Sept. 7, 2016, at a burger restaurant at the popular pier.
