NICEVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Highway Patrol says a man involved in a traffic accident was killed while crossing a highway a short time later.

Troopers said in a news release that 77-year-old Robert Lovertich was involved in a crash on Friday night in the Florida Panhandle. He was hit by a passing vehicle as he crossed U.S. 90 a short time later.

He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Troopers say 25-year-old Eric Edwards was driving the vehicle that hit Lovertich. Neither Edwards nor his 29-year-old passenger John Moore Jr. were injured in the crash.

Officials say alcohol tests results and charges are pending an investigation.
