WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) - Police in Winchester say a man allegedly tried to hire someone to kill a man he thought was having a relationship with his girlfriend.

The Lexington Herald-Leader (https://bit.ly/2mnnbHN ) reports 38-year-old James Richard Long was charged Friday with solicitation of murder.

Winchester police Capt. James Hall says Long met with an undercover detective on Wednesday and allegedly offered him money, then said he needed to think about it before going through with the deal.

Long was being held in the Clark County Jail. It wasn’t immediately known whether Long has an attorney who could comment on the charge.
