HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A juvenile charged with killing a 15-year-old Hartford boy will be tried as an adult.

Tywone Edwards Jr. was arraigned as an adult Monday. The 17-year-old faces charges of murder, evidence tampering and carrying a pistol without a permit.

He’s charged with the March 17 fatal shooting of 15-year-old Keon Huff Jr., who was found in the hallway of a residential building in the city’s North End suffering a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead.

The arrest warrant says another young man who was there told police they told Edwards to put the gun away, but he wouldn’t.

Edwards’ attorney told The Hartford Courant that the teenagers were fooling around with a firearm when it accidentally fired.

Huff was the city’s eighth homicide victim of the year.
