CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Police in Cranston say a 66-year-old pedestrian was critically injured when he was hit by a car.

Police Chief Col. Michael Winquist says the man had attempted to cross the street near an intersection around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck.

He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries considered life-threatening.



The driver remained at the scene of the accident. She wasn’t hurt. Police say no charges will be brought against her.

The crash remains under investigation.
