NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - Fire officials in Nashua say a dog is safe and back with its owner after falling through an icy pond.

Nashua Fire Rescue responded to Sandy Pond around 11:25 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a dog that had fallen through ice. Firefighters reported the dog was about 50 to 60 feet from shore.

Firefighters in water rescue suits waded into the pond, and one who was tied with a rope made his way to the dog. The rescuer grabbed the dog named Whiskey and secured him as crew members on shore pulled them back.

Officials say the dog didn’t appear to suffer any injuries.
