BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - A Belgrade man faces charges for reportedly threatening a Municipal Court judge over fines the man owes in a 2013 disorderly conduct case.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (bit.ly/2nDUW8h) 45-year-old James William King was arrested Tuesday and charged Wednesday with threats and other improper influence in official and political matters. Justice of the Peace Rick West continued his bail at the $50,000 listed in the warrant.

Prosecutors allege King left a note at Judge Karl Seel’s house on Sunday evening trying to persuade him to vacate his conviction or dismiss $235 in fines and fees. The letter said King would stop at nothing to have Seel removed from the bench and disbarred or criminally prosecuted.

King on Wednesday denied an allegation made by a confidential informant that he threatened Seel’s life.
