RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Police in Raleigh say a 55-year-old Florida man on a bicycle has been killed after he was hit by a North Carolina State University police officer’s SUV.
Police say John Leonard White Jr. of Wesley Chapel, Florida, was hit about 7 a.m. Monday after he went through a red light near the North Carolina state Fairgrounds.
Police say officer Ryan Drakeford had a green light when his marked SUV hit White at a speed of about 25 mph. The speed limit there was 40 mph.
Drakeford was not hurt.
