KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) - A 42-year-old upstate New York man has pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend.
The Middletown Times Herald-Record reports that Karon Bowden, of Saugerties, admitted on Friday that he killed 24-year-old Amy Berger.
Police arrested Bowden after responding to a domestic call last May. Berger was found dead on the floor with a bullet wound to her face. Police believe that she was shot with a 9-millimeter handgun from close range.
According to the Ulster County district attorney’s office, evidence revealed that Berger had decided to break off her relationship with Bowden.
Bowden was charged with second-degree murder. The case had been slated to go to trial on Monday. He’s to be sentenced in May in Ulster County Court.
