NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A New Orleans police officer moonlighting as a guard was asked to check out someone apparently sleeping on the grass in a cemetery shortly after 7 a.m., and found that the man had been shot.

Police say emergency medical workers were unable to revive the man, who was pronounced dead Friday morning in Greenwood Cemetery.

A news release says investigators don’t know of a motive or suspect.

Police say the coroner will release the man’s name after his family is notified.
