CENTER POINT, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a search is underway for a black bear spotted in an Alabama backyard.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/2rU9Mrc ) that Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a bear sighting in Center Point.

Chief Deputy Randy Christian says a woman reported that she heard her dogs barking, and saw a black bear in her backyard. When deputies arrived, they saw the bear leave the yard and walk into a wooded area.



The Alabama Game Warden and a veterinarian at the Birmingham Zoo were contacted to assist the search.

Christian says a team from the zoo is being sent to the location to aid in the capture of the animal.
