NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) - Two men charged in connection with the shooting death of an 18-year-old man killed as he stood with a crowd at a Massachusetts park have been held without bail.
Prosecutors say 20-year-old Ivan Fontanez Jr. pulled the trigger during the shooting Monday in New Bedford but was “acting in concert” with 23-year-old Keeland Rose.
Brad Lourenco was hit in the back of the head and died hours later at a hospital.
Rose and Fontanez pleaded not guilty charges including assault and battery by discharging a firearm and carrying an illegal firearm. Prosecutors say charges may be upgraded.
Their lawyers refused comment.
Prosecutors say a shooting last week that injured Fontanez’s half brother is a possible motive.
