ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (AP) - Police say a New Jersey teenager was surrounded and attacked by five people while he was walking around an apartment complex.
The Record reports (https://njersy.co/2rvhWaR ) the victim was accosted around 5 p.m. Monday, with one of the suspects putting a gun to his head while the others stole his jacket and cellphone. Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno says the 17-year-old teenager was also struck in the ribs, causing extreme pain and bruising.
After the victim ran to a nearby drugstore and called police, responding officers arrested the assailants. All of the suspects were underage, except for a 21-year-old man.
The teenage suspects were taken to a juvenile detention center, while the adult is being held in Bergen County Jail.
