SUTTON, Mass. (AP) - Authorities have identified a Massachusetts truck driver who died after police say he fled an attempted traffic stop and crashed into two other vehicles.
Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.’s office says 54-year-old James Drake was killed in the crash Monday in Sutton.
Sutton police say an officer conducting traffic enforcement had activated his emergency lights and attempted to pull over a pickup truck caught on radar going 50 mph in 30 mph zone.
Police say instead of pulling over, the pickup sped up even more on the two-lane road.
After briefly losing sight of the truck, the officer rounded a sharp curve to find it had crashed head-in with two other vehicles.
Drake, of Worcester, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two drivers suffered minor injuries.
