SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (AP) - A passenger has died and the driver was badly hurt when he lost control of a roadster kit car and crashed in Pennsylvania.

State troopers from the Butler barracks were investigating the crash that killed 26-year-old Tanya Tyson. The driver, 39-year-old Aaron Burd was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital with what police called severe injuries.

The Butler couple was driving the car in Slippery Rock Township when it went out of control, hit a tree and flipped over, ejecting both occupants about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

A kit car is one that is sold in parts then put together by the owner. It wasn’t immediately clear whether Burd owned or built the car.
