MILFORD, Del. (AP) - State police have charged a Delaware man with killing his girlfriend’s two pit bulls.

Authorities say troopers were called to a Milford home around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday after 27-year-old Denzel L. Brown and his 34-year-old girlfriend got into an argument. After troopers settled the dispute, the woman put the dogs in their crates inside the house and left.

Police say Denzel, who also lives at the house, was waiting outside for a ride but went back inside to get some belongings.

Investigators say he suddenly emerged from the house saying he had stabbed the dogs, claiming they were fighting.

Brown was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of animal cruelty, and criminal mischief.

He was being held on $16,100 cash bond.
