BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (AP) - A suspicious fire has destroyed a historic, 107-year-old train station in western Pennsylvania.
Beaver Falls Fire Chief Mark Stowe says the building was the old College Hill Station for the Pennsylvania & Lake Erie Railroad. The building has been vacant since passenger service to the station stopped in 1986.
Although the building has burned before, Monday afternoon’s fire destroyed the structure which will now have to be razed. Nobody was hurt in the fire.
The station served students at nearby Geneva College and residents who lived near the private, Christian liberal arts school.
Beaver Falls is about 30 miles (48.3 kilometers) northwest of Pittsburgh.
