NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say two teens have been booked after they stole a vehicle with a baby inside.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports the boys, ages 13 and 14, were booked with auto theft after police say they stole a vehicle Saturday night that was left running with a baby inside. Police spokeswoman Dawne Massey says the baby was found unharmed a few blocks away from where the car was stolen.
Police say officers responded to the theft around 9:15 p.m. Massey says it was classified as an auto theft rather than a carjacking because the driver was not inside at the time and left it running.
A man who identified himself as the baby’s grandfather says the vehicle was stolen outside a beauty store while the baby’s mother had gone inside.
