EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say one man was killed and two other people were seriously injured in a collision on a major New Jersey roadway.

Egg Harbor Township police say the crash on the Black Horse Pike occurred around 6:20 p.m. Saturday.

They say a car driven by 49-year-old Jeffrey Weiss, of Mays Landing, was stopped near Tower Avenue when it was rear-ended by a car driven by 29-year-old John Rivera, also of Mays Landing.

Weiss was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Rivera and a passenger in Weiss’ car, whose name has not been released, both suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital. But further details on their conditions were not available Sunday.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
