SOUTH HEART, N.D. (AP) - The southwestern North Dakota community of South Heart has said goodbye to a school that educated generations of students for more than a century.

KXMB-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2ryxWut ) that the school built in 1916 was torn down on Tuesday.

It’s being replaced by a modern facility. South Heart voters last year approved an $11 million bond referendum to help pay for it.

Superintendent Calvin Dean says it’s exciting to have something new, but it’s bittersweet for many.
