ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) - Jury deliberations have begun in the trial of a man charged with fatally stabbing a college student during a brawl at Cornell University last summer.

The Tompkins County Court jury started deliberating Wednesday after getting final instructions from the judge presiding over 24-year-old Nagee Green’s second-degree murder trial in the slaying of Anthony Nazaire of New York City.

Prosecutors say Green stabbed the 19-year-old Ithaca College sophomore during a fight outside a fraternity-sponsored party at the Cornell student union in Ithaca on Aug. 28.

According to trial testimony, Green, from nearby Freeville, attacked Nazaire and his classmate after the classmate bumped into a woman, setting off fights that led to both students being stabbed. The classmate survived.

Green’s attorneys say prosecutors failed to present enough evidence to convict their client.
