DENVER (AP) - The Colorado departments of Education and Higher Education will be hosting a series of town halls to learn what’s driving down enrollment and graduation rates of the state’s teacher education programs since 2010.
The Durango Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2rsaW04 ) the first of the town halls is scheduled for Wednesday in Ridgway. It will be the first of 10 town halls held across the state this summer.
The meetings are a result of a house bill signed into law last month that requires education officials and school districts to identify and address the teacher shortage.
The data gathered from these town halls will be used to draft a strategic plan with recommendations for the legislature on how to address the issues.
