GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Greenville Zoo officials say a male orangutan escaped his enclosure briefly.

Administrator Jeff Bullock tells WSPA-TV that the orangutan found a weak spot in the wire that holds the netting together on the enclosure.

The park was put into lockdown Sunday and guests were moved to safe areas. Zoo officials say the orangutan never left the top of the exhibit.

Staff returned the orangutan to the exhibit after about 10 minutes and secured the hole.

Contractors will be called in to make repairs and check for other weak spots in the enclosure.

The orangutans were moved out of the exhibit for the day.
