CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - An 11-year-old girl has died from injuries she suffered in a car crash that killed her father and brother about a week ago in North Carolina.
MEDIC, the local emergency medical service, told local media outlets that the crash occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on June 29 in the Steele Creek area of southwest Charlotte. Authorities say 34-year-old Ignacio Cordova swerved his Volkswagen Jetta into a lane and struck an oncoming tractor trailer.
Cordova and his son, 14-year-old Adrien Cordova, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim, 11-year-old Jaleyha Cordova, had life-threatening injuries and was taken to Carolinas Medical Center. She died there Thursday.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the driver of the tractor trailer wasn’t hurt. They also say alcohol wasn’t a factor for either driver.
