BARRE, Vt. (AP) - Crews in the city of Barre, Vermont, have repaired a major water main break.

Officials say the water main break occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, the Fourth of July. Finding it and making repairs took about 12 hours.

A small number of homes were without water overnight.

The service was restored to those homes Wednesday morning. It’s unknown what caused the break.
