NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say a 14-year-old boy who pulled out a gun and robbed a 13-year-old boy has been arrested.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports the victim told police that the robbery occurred Monday afternoon after they met to buy candy. Authorities say while sitting on playground equipment, the older boy pulled out a gun and ordered the younger boy to hand over his property. The victim told police he wasn’t sure if his friend was serious, but the 14-year-old went into his pockets and removed $11 before fleeing.
The juvenile was arrested and charged with armed robbery with a firearm.
New Orleans police spokeswoman Dawne Massey says investigators don’t know how the boy got the .380-caliber handgun, and they believe it was loaded.
It’s unclear if the juvenile has a lawyer.
