OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Police say a man has been arrested after stabbing an employee taking his blood at an Omaha hospital.
Police say the stabbing was reported around 8:30 a.m. Friday on the fourth floor of the Nebraska Medicine’s Lied Transplant Center.
A police reports says a 30-year-old phlebotomist was attempting to draw blood from the 37-year-old man who didn’t want his blood drawn. Hospital officials say he attacked the woman with a weapon he had made from items found in his room. She had stitches to close a wound on her face.
Police say other staff members and security staffers held the man down until police arrived. The man was arrested and jailed on suspicion of assaulting a health care professional and a weapons count.
