LA PLATA, Md. (AP) - A man was trampled and bitten by a camel at the Charles County Fairgrounds.

WJLA-TV reports that the man suffered a severe head injury during the attack on Friday, and was medevacked by a state police helicopter to a hospital.

The camel was part of the Lewis and Clark Circus, which was renting the fairgrounds parking lot. The camel was inside a horse trailer.



Performances at the fairgrounds have been canceled due to a permitting issue.
