MATAWAN, N.J. (AP) - Fire officials in New Jersey are investigating a house fire that injured four firefighters.

The Asbury Park Press reports (https://on.app.com/2t7myBw ) crews responded to a blaze in Matawan Monday afternoon. No one was home at the time of the fire.

Two firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation while two others suffered burns.



Borough administrator Lou Ferrara says at least seven fire companies helped extinguish the fire.

Mayor Joseph Altomonte says the home was severely damaged.
