Freshman Rep. Roger Marshall has the perfect cure for his teenage son’s dabbing fever.

The Kansas Republican said in a tweet Tuesday that he grounded Cal, 17, for striking the pose during a swearing-in photo op with House Speaker Paul Ryan, which since went viral.

“Just so you know @SpeakerRyan: He’s grounded,” tweeted the OB/GYN turned legislator, who was elected with the support of 66 percent of the electorate. Three months earlier he upset tea party incumbent Tim Huelskamp for the party’s nomination for the Sunflower State’s 1st Congressional District.

For his part, if Mr. Ryan was offended by the teen’s silly stunt, he doesn’t seem to show it.

“Just finished swearing-in photos. Nearly 300 members. Countless cute kids. Still don’t get what dabbing is, though,” the Wisconsin Republican tweeted Tuesday evening.

Canadian news outlet CTV quipped that Mr. Ryan “attempted to retain a modicum of coolness” in that tweet by including “a photo of himself fist-bumping during the ceremony.”
