LOS ANGELES (AP) - Firefighters quickly put out a fire in a South Los Angeles apartment building but two dogs were found dead.

Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott says the fire was reported at 12:23 p.m. Tuesday in one ground-floor unit of the two-story building in the Hyde Park area.

Thirty-five firefighters knocked down the flames in less than half an hour and no one was injured.

The fire’s cause and the amount of the loss were under investigation.
