DURHAM, N.H. (AP) - Students at the University of New Hampshire are protesting changes in parking enforcement.

The Portsmouth Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2w2FKVK ) the UNH Transportation Committee unanimously approved extending parking enforcement hours during an April 14 meeting. Starting Friday, parking enforcement at four visitor parking lots will change from 11 hours a day, five days a week to 14 hours a day, seven days a week.

UNH student Timothy Waryas Jr. says has started an online petition that has garnered over 4,000 signatures. The petition claims parking changes will limit student access to certain areas and create obstacles for visitors during weekends.

UNH communications director Erika Mantz says changes were made to accommodate visitors. Mantz says there are multiple parking options for students on weeknights and weekends.
