BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - Police say a South Carolina man has admitted to spray painting racist graffiti on the side of a bowling alley.

Beaufort Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Hope Able tells local news outlets that the 53-year-old man admitted to the graffiti late Monday after being identified on video surveillance footage. The man, who hasn’t been named, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of illegal graffiti vandalism.

The man wrote, “KKK! Jackson Greant (sic) Lee,” among other messages, in red paint on a white wall at the back of Love House Community Bowling Center overnight.

The Island Packet reports that in response, the bowling alley offered a free night of bowling in a “racial harmony” event Wednesday evening.
